Ha-Sandwich / Zuppa is effectively two restaurants rolled into one. It has two entrances on different streets. If you come in via the 59 Nachalat Binyamin Street entrance then you come to the main restaurant with a bar and tables and chairs all set out as well as outdoor seating just what you might expect from a restaurant. However, if you come in via Ahad Ha'am Street then you are faced with what resembles a compact soup kitchen and large cauldrons of steaming broth await you. There is usually a choice of about 4 or 5 different soups and the staff encourage you to taste them all by giving you a small quantity in mini plastic cups. You can order your soup and walk into the seating area in the main part of the restaurant via a short hallway.
The restaurant itself is small. It is a very popular lunch time spot. I think it is open 'till late but as I have only been here for lunch I don't know what it's like later in the day. They serve a multitude of sandwiches, hot and cold meals and salads. http://www.sandwich59.co.il/pages/menu.php Here is their menu in Hebrew for your information. It is a great little place. The staff are friendly and the food is fresh and tasty. Usually there is also some good music playing in the background. All in all I think it's a real gem. Do try it out and see what you think.
