At this time of the year, in mid-Spring much of the Tunisian countryside is verdant and lush with fields in different hues of green as far as the eye can see. People who tend to think of the climate in Tunisia as only dry, arid and desert like are much mistaken. It is as if climatically the country is divided into two halves. The North half of the country is fertile and this where all the market gardens and the food production take place. The drier, hotter conditions are prevalent in Southern Tunisia where date palms grow.
