Tunisian doors

Tunisia is renowned for its beautiful, brightly coloured and ornate wooden doors which are often studded with black nails that form intricate designs.  The doors are said to symbolise the fortune and the happiness of the households within.  It is said that the doorknockers on the left hand side are used by women and the ones on the right hand side are used by men.  Here are some photographs of doors from my recent visit to the Medina in Tunis.
